Chapters

Silicon Valley

Started by the founder Karl Mehta in 2013, Code For India's first official chapter is in Mountain View. Today, CFI Silicon Valley has more than 700 volunteers from the Bay Area. The chapter hosts regular meetups for the community on Saturdays. Members often spend hours working together on projects. Apart from the weekly meetups, the chapter has hosted two successful hackathons and is an active participant in other events.

Bangalore

CFI Bangalore was initiated in 2014 as a result of the overwhelming response received from the community at first the CFI Global Hackathon. We believe that the technology community in Bangalore can solve a large variety of problems and leave a big impact in the city. In the past, successful meetups have been hosted at the Google Bangalore and at Jaaga.

Today, CFI Bangalore is led by Freeman Murray. Freeman believes strongly in the transformative power of the Internet. He runs Jaaga Study on a farm near Bangalore where Indian youth learn how to write software and create web and mobile applications.

He has been living in India for the past 10 years where he has been actively engaged with startups as an angel, mentor, and engineer. He has also been active in the social sector. He cofounded Jaaga: an art and technology space in Bangalore. He serves on the board of Video Volunteers which uses the internet and digital video to give the poor a greater voice. He is a member of the Social Venture Partners - Bangalore.

Hyderabad

CFI Hyderabad was initiated in 2014 as a result of the overwhelming response received from the community at the first CFI Global Hackathon. This chapter has been a Volunteer led effort, where people have successfully hosted meetups and events, with support from local Technology Companies. We are currently looking for active leadership for this chapter, who can host meetups, events and drive projects.
